Measures 1.2.2 is out! |

Just in case nobody noticed it.. 1.2.2 update of Measures is in the AppStore. There are some new units as usual. Some bugfixes and corrections also did it into this release. Especially japanese users will probably appreciate the full japanese translation (great thanks to Shoe Hirose). And for these people who found the built-in calculator not intuitive enough for changing the sign, the comma key was extended: when you hold it, the sign of the entered number will be changed. Cooks in UK watch out: there is a gas-mark unit under Temperature! Alll in all, it will be useful update for everybody. One word again on splash screens: dear friends of Measures, i really hate all those splash-screens and built-in advertisements.. but as i already explained in one of my previous posts the splash screen is kind of necessity. I don't artificially delay the start-up process because i would like to tell the whole world how cool i am.. No, this is just an only option to not show the black screen while the app loads! Seriously, would the black screen be any better? |

Splash Screens in iPhone Apps |
|

I am getting some complaints about the splash screen shown on start-up. I promise a better looking one in the new version which is already uploaded. And the purpose of it is not to promote myself. Unfortunately every iPhone app needs time to load. And as a developer i have two options: either show some default image while loading or don't show anything which will result in presenting a black screen to the user for some 2-3 seconds. Initially Measures was showing pre-rendered UI as a splash screen, but now it is not an option, since user can select different skin and the default image can be created only once. It can't be changed dynamically later on. I hope that one day Apple will at least allow us (developers) to save the latest shown screen which could be shown as a load image at the next start. |
